For the past fifteen years Alison Crowther has intricately carved furniture and sculpture from huge sections of unseasoned English oak.

The forms are simple and organic but richly textured with a surface of hand-carved grooves and lines that echo the natural rhythms of grain within the timber itself. The work continues to evolve as the wood seasons.

Commissions have been completed for private, public and corporate clients throughout Britain, Europe, the USA and most recently, Hong Kong. Crowther has experience of working with private individuals, County Council Architects, and International Art Consultants.

Crowther's work is made in her studio/workshop, an ancient barn at the foot of the Sussex Downs, and produced to commission or for exhibition in ‘one-off’, ‘site-specific’, or small ‘batch’ capacity.
